Mosin Nagant Pistol Grip

6

I’m a fan of the Mosin Nagant rifle. It’s affordable, reliable and ammo is cheap. I’m not a purist when it comes to modifying historical firearms, I’m ok with modern add-ons and upgrades. But this Mosin Nagant pistol grip on Amazon has to be one of the most useless mods I’ve ever seen.

According to the listing it “increases operator comfort and weapon performance, Providing more control during firing while reducing fatigue”. What boggles my mind is not how one would use this with their Mosin, but that according to the listing over 40 people actually purchased this. If it helps you improve your shooting more power to you, I just don’t see it.

Anyone actually use one of these?

$24K Zombie Kit From Optics Planet

0

If you’ve been an Armory Blog reader over the past 6 months or so then you’ll already know I find all these gimmicky zombie products that the gun industry has been pumping out to be pretty lame. I even compiled a list of many of the zombie products debuted at SHOT 2012. So why am I posted this? Because a zombie survival kit at $24,000 is fairly newsworthy.

The Z.E.R.O. (Zombie Extermination, Research and Operations) from Optics Planet is no doubt a marketing ploy to get links and exposure (like I’m giving them now). The $24K zombie kit includes everything from weapon accessories, flashlights, knives, tools, backpacks and even lab equipment. Does one really need all this stuff to survive the zombie apocalypse? Probably not, but if you have $24K to throw down then why not.

Alternatives To Google For Guns & Ammo Shopping

2
Sorry Arnold, can't use Google Shopping to buy guns anymore.

In case you didn’t already hear, Google has censored firearms and ammo listings from their Google Shopping service. Although this is a pretty disturbing turn of events from the world’s most popular search engine, there’s still hope for firearms enthusiasts out there. There’s quite a few alternatives to Google Shopping to find firearms, ammo and accessories online. In case you don’t already have an online firearms and ammo retailer that you already use or if you want to find an even better deal out there, here’s a few alternatives to Google shopping to get your firearms fix.

Amazon

While Amazon does not sell ammunition and firearms on their site, the most popular online retailer does  have a vast amount of firearms accessories to choose from. From AR-15 parts, guns magazines, stocks, rails, targets, training snap caps, cleaning kits, you name it. They probably have it listed, and usually much cheaper than anywhere else with free shipping to boot. If you sign-up for Amazon Prime you get free 2-day shipping on most orders as well. Check out their large selection of accessories at Amazon.com.

AR-15 “Kitty Pink” Furniture Kit

1

Guys, want to build an AR-15 for your lady? Ladies, want to spruce up your AR? Then the “Kitty Pink” AR-15 Furniture Kit might be perfect for you. Sometimes OD green, tan or all black rifles get a little boring, now you can go pink!

This kit includes a TI-7 buttstock, A2 pistol grip and 7 snap-on Kwikguard covers for picatinny rails. The buttstock fits Mil-Spec sized receiver tubes while the A2 grip will fit any standard AR-15 lower.

Dual Gas Piston and DI AR-15

1

Many shooters who buy or build an AR-15 have a ton of options to choose from, from what AR-15 parts kits to use, uppers, lowers, stocks, sights etc. One option that has been debated to death is whether to go with a traditional direct impingement or gas piston AR-15. Well now the debate can be put to rest it seems as this new patent posted on TheFireArmBlog incorporates both a gas piston and direct impingement in one AR. Jason Jackson received a patent for his new design that allows a shooter to switch between piston or DI.

It’s a pretty interesting design s the gas tube is actually the piston, and if you want to go DI you can adjust the system so that the piston is then locked in place and the gas tube is opened to allow gasses to do their thing like in a DI setup. Why would anyone want both setups in one rifle? I have no idea, but now I guess we can put the piston vs DI debate to rest, for now.

Walther and Smith & Wesson Part Ways

0

It was recently announced that starting next year Smith & Wesson will no longer be the importer and distributor for Walther firearms in the United States. Walther Arms Inc, a new company formed by the PW Group who owns CARL WALTHER GmbH Sportwaffen and Umarex will take over distributon. Smith & Wesson has been the distributor for Walther in the U.S. since 1999.

Arnsberg, Germany based PW Group, owners of shooting sports companies, CARL WALTHER GmbH Sportwaffen and Umarex, announce the formation of Walther Arms, Inc. to handle all the importation, sales, marketing, distribution and servicing of Walther products in the United States. The transition will occur in two phases beginning January 1, 2013. Previously, Smith & Wesson held responsibility for the distribution of Walther firearms and accessories in the United States. On January 1, that responsibility will be handled by the newly formed Walther Arms, Inc. with the exception of the Walther P22 and PK380 models, which Smith & Wesson will continue to sell and distribute through April 30, 2013.

Walther and Smith & Wesson will maintain their strategic alliance on several fronts—Smith & Wesson will continue to manufacture the PPK for Walther Arms, Inc. and CARL WALTHER will continue to manufacture the M&P22 handgun for S&W. Additionally, Umarex will continue to license the Smith & Wesson brand for airgun products. “We are extremely thankful for the relationship we have had and will continue to have with the quality organization of Smith & Wesson,” said Wulf-Heinz Pflaumer, President of PW Group. “Smith & Wesson has been an outstanding partner and has represented the Walther brand in the U.S. with tremendous focus, effort and results. We look forward to many more years of strategic alliance with Smith & Wesson.”

New Samurai Flick Hara-Kiri

2

I absolutely love samurai movies. After anything WWII, samurai movies are up there on my all-time favorite movie genres. I even posted these sweet samurai iPhone wallpapers a while back of my favorite Japanese actor Toshirō Mifune. Yeah, I love samurai movies that much. From Takashi Miike, the same director of the action packed 13 Assassins, the new film Hara-Kiri looks pretty darned good. Check it out below.

I’ll be in line opening night!
