Charter Arms Pitbull 9mm Revolver Now Available

3

Charter Arms recently announced the release of their Pitbull Rimless Revolver chambered in 9mm. Their 9mm model was delayed for sometime with the .40 S&W model being available for sometime. The Pitbull rimless revolver makes use of a unique rimless cartridge extractor and a dual coil spring assembly helps retention of the rimless 9mm cartridge in each chamber. I had the chance to fire the Pitbull revolver in .40 S&W and I was pretty impressed with it. If you’ve been in the market for a revolver but don’t want to have to add another cartridge type to your ammo stockpile these are a great option.

I’d expect this kind of stuff in my local gun shop. Does Walmart know something we don’t? Oh yeah that’s right, the end of the world is near.

Which Concealed Carry Licenses Are Honored The Most

0

Here’s some interesting figures on which concealed carry licenses are honored the most in the United States. The figure above is also interesting, and related to CCWs so I thought I’d include it too. Not a surprise Illinois and D.C. don’t issue licenses at all. How’s that working out for them?

States of Honor: CCW Reciprocity

I’ve been on a book kick lately, I usually don’t read books, but after discovering Gun: A Visual History recently I’ve been buying more and more firearms related books. My recently discovery is Chicks With Guns, it’s an awesome photo book with you guessed it, women and guns.

How Much Would It Cost To Be Batman In Real Life?

Ever wonder how much Bruce Wayne spends on being the Dark Knight? While the infograhic from Mashable below is just a guesstimate, it gives us a look into just how much it costs to be Batman.

The only issue I see is the $500K for firearms training. How does it cost half a million to train Bruce Wayne in firearms use? Especially since he doesn’t even use guns. Oh yeah, and where’s that sweet EMP gun he had pictured above? And one more thing, give Alfred a raise, he deserves it.

Kim Rhode Makes Olympic History

3

The shooting sports may not get much coverage during the Olympics, but that might change thanks to Kim Rhode. She is the first US athlete to win medals in five straight Olympics. Rhode won gold in women’s skeet shooting today and tied a world record as well as setting an Olympic record with 99 points. She only missed a single shot out of 100, and was eight targets better than the silver medalist, Wei Ning of China.

The previous individual medal winners record was held by Carl Lewis, Joyner-Kersee and Bruce Baumgartner for four straight summer Olympics. Rhodes surpasses that with her current gold medal, in previous games she won gold in double trap at the Atlanta games in 1996, bronze in Sydney in 2000, gold again in Athens in 2004 and Silver in skeet in Beijing in 2008.

Check out an interview with Kim Rhode below, you can also watch highlights from her gold medal performance at NBCOlympics.com.

Gaston Glock Threatens Photographer With A Water Pistol

1

Gaston Glock, pictured above with his much younger wife, got himself into some pretty hot water recently. The founder and owner of Glock g.m.b.H. according to the Austrian Times pointed a water pistol at a photographer’s head and pulled the trigger. Mr. Glock then told the photographer who was covering a beach volleyball tournament in Klagenfurt, “I bet you’re glad that this is not a real gun.”

Daniel Raunig, the photographer who was threatened by Mr. Glock is suing the 82-year-old firearms maker. No word on whether the water pistol was a Glock model or not.

iPhone Stun Gun Case

1

iphone-stun-gun-case

Posted over on the GunSpec Blog, this iPhone Stun Gun case looks pretty similar to the .50 BMG Proof iPhone Case we posted about a while back. But this 650,000 volt stun gun packs and punch. Made by Yellow Jacket. They’ll soon be available in black, white, pink and gold.

In case you were thinking, like I was, that this is a recipe for disaster, the stun gun case will have two safety mechanisms to help prevent users from accidently shocking themselves. And when you’re not using the case as a self defense weapon, it will also add an additional 20 hours of battery life to your iPhone. Although it looks bulky Yellow Jacket claims it weights in at only 4 ounces and is comparable in size to the Otterbox Defender case. They’re available for pre-order with Android models coming soon. Check them out at Yellowjacketcase.com.

Greek Olympian Banned Over Racist and Gun Tweets

9

Remember the two Australian Olympic swimmers who got in trouble posting pictures of themselves posing with guns on Facebook? Looks like Greek Triple Jumper Voula Papachristou is the next Olympic athelete to get in trouble over a gun tweet among other things.

First and foremost, her main offense was her racist tweets about Africans which prompted the Greek Olympic Committee to boot her from the games. Saying racist remarks over social media is always a bad idea, and for that she does deserve punishment. But it’s her next “offense” that really irks me.

The Greek Olympic Committee is also using her recent tweet of a gun picture against her as well. Interesting enough the gun tweet in question is a picture we took of the Sig Sauer Spartan ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ 1911 pistol that we posted from SHOT SHOW 2012. That beautiful 1911 has the historical phrase ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ and a spartan helmet on the grips and slide, it pays tribute to a part of Greek history you would think many Greeks would be proud of. But nope, it’s a gun and guns are bad and not in the “spirit of Olympic competition” according to the Greek Olympic Committee. Wait isn’t there shooting in the Olympics too?

The Greek news site News247.Gr posted about her tweet of the Sig Sauer 1911 in question from our past post (the tweet may have been taken down since, but there’s a screen shot of it to the left). It’s pretty sad that Olympic committees around the world are squashing the dreams of young athletes over harmless gun pictures. Posting racist remarks for everyone in the world to see, yeah don’t do that. That’s just plain stupid. But using a tweet about a gun that pays tribute to the rich history of your country as one of the excuses to boot someone out of the games? Not cool.
