This may be old news to some of you, but I wanted to share the site I’ve been using for the past few months called Gunway.com. It’s a rather new social networking site that’s like Pinterest but for guns. You can pin, or Fire a Shot, pictures and links and share them to other gun enthusiasts. Check it out at Gunway.com. and while you’re at it follow us on Gunway!

Yet Another Laptop Shooting

2

It appears that laptops make great targets, great expensive targets. Remember the Macbook that was shot by security forces in Israel a few years back? Then there was the Asus laptop for sale with a bullet hole on eBay recently, it looks like the most recent victim of  a senseless laptop shooting was another Asus. Posted over on Gunway, this Asus laptop met its end via .22 LR, 5.45x39mm, 8mm Mauser, .380 Auto, 9mm Luger, and .40 S&W. I’m actually surprised how well it held up after all those rounds.

STG-44s Used By Syrian Rebels

9

Remember our recent story about the cache of 5000 STG-44 Sturmgewehr rifles found in Syria? Well it looks like they’re being put to use. Pictures of STG-44 rifles used by Syrian rebels were posted recently on MilitaryPhotos.net, it’s a shame that those pieces of history will never make it into the hands of collectors, but on a positive note at least they’re being used to help overthrow an oppressive government.

You can also see the Syrian rebel holding an STG-44 above at about the 2:20 mark in the video below:

IDF Adopts CAA Tactical MAG 17 Polymer Mags

4

The Israeli Defense Force has officially adopted the CAA Tactical Mag 17 polymer magazines to replace their aluminum magazines according to TheFirearmBlog. After lab and field tests the IDF chose the CAA mags over other unnamed polymer and aluminum mags and purchased 10,000 of them. I can’t wait to see all the IDF chicks rocking these new polymer mags with their AR-15s.

From the IDF press release:

After relying on aluminum magazines for many years, the Ground Forces will soon be equipped with next-generation, polymeric cartridges instead. The new cartridges, which combat units will receive over the next several months, will increase reliability and last several times longer than those currently in use.

Following a long examination process, which included both laboratory and field testing, the IDF has decided to distribute 10,000 of the new cartridges. These magazines, which are produced by the CAA Tactical company, were chosen over several other types of cartridges – plastic, aluminum, and polymeric – from a number of companies.

Additionally, because the new cartridges will last much longer than the older models, the change will save the IDF a great deal of money. “If the earlier cartridges could only be used seven times, these ones can be used many dozens of times,” emphasized Maj. Iluz. “In fact, we have not yet managed to destroy one of these cartridges. This is a tremendous change, which will lead to significant savings in the purchase of cartridges.”

Magpul Working On Mossberg Shotgun Accessories?

1

magpul remington 870 kit

Magpul recently expanded their product line to include accessories for the popular Remington 870 shotgun (seen above), but are they working on parts for the equally popular Mossberg 500 line of shotguns as well? Magpul recently posted on their Facebook page asking their followers if they’re interested in kits for the Mossberg, it’s safe to say the response from their fans was overwhelmingly positive.

I’m guessing they already have stocks and forends in the works, or at the very least it’s on the drawing board.

Gerber Bear Grylls Survival Kit

2

I’ve been loading up on survival gear lately, and while this isn’t a prepper/survival blog, I like to pass on my finds to you guys. The other day I posted about a budget friendly Credit Card Size Survival Tool, I recently stumbled upon this Gerber Bear Grylls Survival Kit. I know what you’re saying, it’s just another Gerber product with Bear Grylls name slapped on it. While it is just that, it actually is a decent little kit.

You might be able to source all the parts in this 15-piece kit cheaper separately, but at $30 Gerber does it all for you and in a nice carrying bag. The kit includes a Gerber miniature multi-tool, survival blanket, fire starter, snare wire, fishing and sewing kits, a pocket survival guide and more. This kit is perfect for your bug out bag, desk at work or even to keep in your car.

AR-15 Magazine Torture Tests

0

A member over at AR15.com has been doing a torture test of AR-15 magazines. It’s not the typical quick mag dumps and run them over with your truck test, they’ve been dunked in noxious chemicals, baked, dropped, sprayed with mosquito repellent and more. Tested were the Troy Battle Mag, TangoDown ARC, MK2 mag, Magpul Pmag, Lancer L5 AWM, Tapco Intrafuse mag, tan follower GI mag and a green follower GI mag. Check out the ongoing torture test thread over at AR15.com.
