Chris Kyle, Former SEAL and Most Lethal Sniper Murdered

Chris Kyle, a former US Navy SEAL and the most lethal sniper in United States history (160 confirmed kills out of 255 claimed) was murdered at a shooting range in Glen Rose, Texas, about 50 miles from Forth Worth on Feb. 2nd 2013. Eddie Ray Routh shot Kyle along with Kyle’s friend Chad Littlefield at the Rough Creek Lodge. There is no known motive for the shooting, however it was said that Routh suffered from PTSD and was taking part in the non-profit group FITCO Cares that Kyle helped to start, a group that helps veterans suffering from PTSD. Kyle leaves behind a wife and two children. RIP Mr. Kyle.

A member over at Gunnit posted these pictures of a S&W M&P AR-15 that had a catastrophic failure at the range. The owner of the rifle apparently used his own reloads in the rifle. Luckily no one was seriously injured.

The New KRISS Vector .22LR

It seems like everyone is making a .22lr version of their firearms theres days. From the S&W M&P 15-22, STG-44 and even the MP-40 Schmeisser is getting a .22lr redo. It looks like KRISS is entering the .22lr market with a rimfire version called the Vector .22LR. Just like .223, the cost of .45ACP has been on the rise making training with firearms like the Vector quite costly. The new Vector .22LR will have the exact same design externally as well as the same fire controls. No word on pricing as of yet, but a Carbine and Special Duty Pistol (SDP) are expected to be released late 2013.

During the 2013 SHOT Show while exhibiting their renowned line of pistols, GLOCK held a raffle when you registered for their new online community called GLOCK ID, the lucky winner gets a GLOCK handgun and runner ups get a personalized voice mail from the Gunny.

Upon receiving news that I was the lucky winner (with a rather held-back/conservative celebration, to avoid a scene in the middle of the SHOT Show floor), I thought to myself, “I knew people win these kind of things but I really did not think it would be me!” And I certainly didn’t wake up that morning thinking, ” I’m going to win a GLOCK today”. I’ve seen those kiosks at the mall where you can win a free car by signing up, I always thought no one ever won those raffles.

On hand to present the Glock was R. Lee “Gunny” Ermey, myself: Glock ID user “Patriot1987”, and a few execs from GLOCK. I would like to personally thank GLOCK for this opportunity!

Mapul Debuts New Mossberg Shotgun Furniture

Last year Magpul debuted their stocks and forends for the Remington 870, well this year Mossberg owners will finally be getting some love as Magpul have expanded their accessory line for Mossberg pump action shotguns. Magpaul’s new furniture of MOE foreends and stocks will work with the 590, 590a1 and a few of the 500 models and will be available in black, flat dark earth and orange. They’re pretty much the same as the furniture currently available for the Remington 870 with pricing expected to be the same.

New GSG .22LR MP-40 Schmeisser

GSG has been on a roll lately when it comes to bringing historical firearms back to life in .22lr form. There’s the GSG 1911, the GSG STG-44 and now the new GSG MP-40 Schmeisser. The one pictured is the prototype and according to the reps from GSG we can expect these to be available later this year. The officially licensed Schmeisser also comes in a wood crate just like the STG-44. Pricing should be under $600 or so, but that’s not been set as of yet.

The MP-40 was always one of my favorite guns in all those WWII movies, so it’s safe to say I can’t wait to get one. And if you’re holding your breath for a .22lr Thompson, GSG claims they tried to bring one to market but were unable to. Hopefully we see one eventually, I’m talking to you Auto Ordnance.
