Well the folks over at LuckyGunner.com put together this pretty cool infograph on the renowned .357 Magnum Colt Python revolver.

FPSRussia’s Home Raided by ATF

1

fpsrussia

Over 40 ATF and FBI agents raided the property of Kyle Myers, a.k.a. FPSRussia the popular YouTuber who’s known to blow stuff up and shoot all sorts of awesome guns on camera for a living. The ATF raiding in an attempt to find illegal weapons or explosives, what did they find? Not a damn thing, they left empty-handed. The ATF suspected Myers of using explosives “with malicious intent,”according to ATF spokesperson Richard Coes.

Maybe it had something to do with the murder of Keith Ratliff, weapons manager of FPSRussia earlier this year. There’s more info on the raid over at Guns.com.

We posted our big list of ammo sources online a while back to help you find ammo online, but I recently stumbled upon an awesome new site that helps you search for ammunition that’s in-stock and in real time called GunBot.net.

It searches various online retailers and shows up-to-date info on price and stock. You can search for various popular calibers as well as for magazines and reloading supplies. GunBot is still me beta mode so stay tuned for more features, calibers and accessories in the future.

The Walking Dead AR-15 Goof

1

dixon-brothers-walking-dead

The Walking Dead is one of the hottest shows on TV right now, but it seems like no one on set really knows what they’re doing when it comes to firearms. In last weeks episode one of the lead characters (Merle Dixon, with his brother Daryl) is seen using an AR-15, too bad no one told him his back up iron sights weren’t deployed. It’s going to be pretty hard to hit anything if you can’t properly aim your rifle. This isn’t the first gun goof in The Walking Dead however, the last one was also AR related.

In case you wondered what guns were used in the series, check out our guns of The Walking Dead post.

Deal Alert: Bushnell Laser Boresighter

2

bushnell-bore-sighter

These days ammo is in short supply and priced pretty darn high, so it’s always a good idea when you can save some rounds when sighting in your firearm. A while back we posted about this .223 laser boresighter deal, I picked one up myself for my recent AR build and it made sighting in my new optic easy as pie. Just point it at your target (I started at 25 yards to get on paper) then adjust your cross hairs or dot accordingly. They make laser boresighters in other calibers too, but I stumbled upon this universal laser boresighter at under $27 shipped. The Bushnell Laser Boresighter includes 7 adapters for calibers from .22lr up to .50 cal as well as 12 and 20 gauge shotguns. It uses three LR-44 batteries that are also included.

Sure you can sight in the traditional way, but this handy boresighter is just plain easy to use and will pay for itself after a few range sessions just from the ammo you’ll save, especially if you shoot more expensive high-caliber rifle rounds.

Check ’em out over at Amazon.com to pick one up.

Because of the Drought, There’s No Such Thing as “Ugly-Duckling Ammo”

3

ammo-shortage

Less than three months ago during an ArmoryBlog shootout, I remember thinking that I should actually enjoy loading my “normal capacity” (more than 10 round) mags because these days it is a luxury to have any ammo at all. I used to think it was a drag to load up all my mags so many times at the range, now I’d kill for a chance to have those sore fingers from all the loading and shooting. Even the tried and true .22lr is pretty impossible to find, the plinking round known for its cheap price and availability has become a “white buffalo” with its rarity. These days if you can find any, they go for around $10 a box of 50 rounds, some places may have it at pre-panic prices but good luck getting any.

Because of the drought, there is no such thing as “ugly-duckling ammo” anymore. With all the “popular” ammo calibers (such as .22, .223/5.56, 7.62x.39, .308, 9mm…) gone; it’s been giving way to the less popular rounds such as .17hmr, .22 mag, .38special/.357 mag, 30-06, 22-250, 20 gauge, (and surprisingly 40 cal).

On the bright side, this drought has given a renewed opportunity to the “safe queens” chambered in the now readily available calibers left on the shelves. Moreover the “safe queen” firearms tends to be in an action differing from “traditional” semi-autos, such as the lever actions in 38 special/.357 or 30-30, a bolt-actions in anything from .17hmr to 30-06 and even 22-250, and even semi-auto pistols/revolvers in .22 mag.

Finally, with all this said, as shooter we do not need to give up a way of life or stop exercising our second amendment right. We must learn to evolve and adjust with the (hopefully temporary) supply and demand, even if that includes dusting off an “old” rifle or pistol, and even finally learning how to reload ammo. We’ll get through this shortage, in the mean time we don’t have to give up our trigger time. Let’s all keep calm and shoot on.

In case you want to try and find ammo, we’ve put together a list of ammo sources online, happy hunting.

Dorner’s Manifesto Supports AWB, Increased Gun Control

4

Dorner

If you haven’t already heard, an ex-cop and service member has been going on a cop killing spree in Southern California. Christopher Dorner, who released his manifesto, is also suspected of killing a young couple in Irvine, California a few days ago, one of whom was the daughter of someone on his list of targets. The ex-LAPD officer spoke about his grievances with the police department as well as the corruption that he claims is running rampant.

Dorner, who owns multiple firearms, also took aim at assault rifles and guns in general. He rants about how assault rifles have no place in society and also goes so far as to call out the Las Vegas gun shop Lock N Load, who he claims sold him Class III weapons even though he is not a resident of the state of Nevada. Which Lock N Load claims is false. He then puts blame on the Portland mall shooting and Sandy Hook school shooting on the Freedom Group who owns a large portfolio of firearms manufacturers.

It looks like he’s not only trying to bring down the LAPD, but firearms as well. This is unfortunate, not only where innocent lives lost today, but it looks like he’s just given more fuel for the anti-gun fire. You can read an excerpt from his manifesto below:

Beware of Fake Magpul PMAGs

0

fake-magpul-pmags
Magpul knock offs are nothing new, the market is flooded with fake Magpul goods and fake/cheapo gun accessories in general. Fake EOtech optics and fake Magpul MBUS sights are all over Amazon and eBay. Well it looks like fake Magpul PMAGs have now entered the market big time, and at just the right time too it seems. Real deal PMAGs are impossible to find these days, and if you do find some they’re most likely going for over double the MSRP. Some people are even blatantly advertising these PMAGs on Backpage as Chinese copies, at least they’re selling them cheaper than real deal PMAGs.
