Call of Duty Statue And The LAPD Faceoff

0

call-of-duty-ghost-statue-lapd

Oh California, you never cease to amaze us with your backwards gun laws and trigger happy police officers. As a native to Southern California it’s reports like these that make me shake my head. Last week LAPD officers stormed the office of video game maker Robotoki. Why you ask? Well supposedly a life-sized statue of the character Simon “Ghost” Riley from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 caused a commotion that got the cops involved when a designer at the studio hit the buildings panic button. I guess the LAPD were just doing their job, but you would think the employee that got the cops involved would have known their studio had a tacticool’d out Call of Duty character in your workplaces office. If they’re looking to get rid of  it I’ll be more than happy to take it, it would help keep kids off my lawn.

Reduce The Sting Of Recoil With The Past Mag Shield

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I love shooting my rifles much more than any of my pistols, but after a day at at the range my old bones can’t take it anymore. OK I’m not that old, maybe just a wuss, but after 20 rounds of 7.62x54R out of my Mosin Nagant or 5  boxes 00 buckshot my shoulder feels like it was kicked by Bas Rutten, over and over again.

Enter the Past Mag Shield, an ambidextrous 1/2″ thick recoil protection pad that claims can help tame rifles up to 300 Winchester Magnum. In case you need something with even more protection, there’s also the Past Super Mag Plus that’s 1″ thick that can take shots from hard hitters like 416 Rigby and the 500 Nitro Express, and maybe even Bas. So in case you’re getting old like me and you want to actually be able to shoot your high power rifles without needing to go to the chiropractor afterwards, check out the Past Mag Shields.

The Past Mag Shield goes for under $24 shipped on Amazon, while the Past Super Mag Plus goes for under $31 shipped on Amazon. There’s also the Past Women’s Recoil Shield made specifically for the ladies.

DoubleTap-pistol

The Double Tap pistol has been a long time coming. It was announced back in 2011, then it was cancelled in 2012, then it was announced that a new manufacturer was sourced to produce them. Now apparently they’re actually shipping, for real this time. Well OK, even we won’t believe it till we see it. They’ll be available in both 9mm and .45ACP and retail from $499 to $799 depending on which model you get.

Russian Prototype AEK-971

AEK971-prototype

A viewer sent this picture of the new Russian Prototype AEK-971 over to TTAG recently, from what we can gather it appears to have some significant upgrades as opposed to just sprucing up the same basic AK-47 design used since well, 1947. Anyone know anything else about these new Russian rifles?

3-Gun is a shooting sport I’ve been meaning to get into, but if you’re a noob like me then it can be a bit overwhelming at first. When it comes to building your own 3-Gun rifle there are so many options you can choose from depending on the class you want to compete in. From barrels, muzzle brakes, hand guards, triggers and optics, it all depends on what you want to spend. This video below helps breakdown the various options for a 3-Gun Tactical class rifle, check out his other videos as well for more tips on 3-Gun shooting and competition.

Grizzly Targets Reactive Auto Reset 220 Review

grizzly-targets-reset-target-review

If you’ve never shot at steel targets out at the range let me just tell you, you’re really missing out. For years I shot at paper targets. I walked out to them during line breaks to check my grouping and staple new targets etc, until one day I had the chance to shoot at steel. The first time I heard that “PING” I had a grin from ear to ear. Don’t get me wrong, paper targets still have their place and they’re not going anywhere, but that instant satisfaction of knowing you hit what you were aiming for is hard to beat. So is not having to walk down range to set up new targets all the time.

High Tower Armory 90/22 Bullpup Stock

The Ruger 10/22 is arguably one of the most popular .22lr firearms of all time with millions made over the years, it’s no wonder there’s so much aftermarket parts available for them. From aftermarket barrels, high-capacity magazines and stocks. And even with the plethora of parts available for the venerable old 10/22, my 15 year old Ruger is still completely stock. If it ain’t broke why fix it right? Well I stumbled upon this bullpup stock kit from the folks over at High Tower Armory that made me rethink my stubbornness to mod my Ruger.

Their 90/22 bullpup stock turns your 10/22 into a short and compact bullpup that looks similar to the FN P90 sub machine gun. It even has a spare ammo holder up top that looks like the P90’s top loader magazine. It’s made out of military grade polymer and shortens the overall length of your 10/22 to around 26.5″s. It includes aluminum Picatinny rails for optics and accessories and an ambidextrous steel charging handle and steel trigger linkage. It also comes with a dummy suppressor to cover the skinny 10/22 barrel and makes the gun look pretty bad ass. It will accept standard factory 10 round mags as well as most of the high-capacity mags on the market, except drum mags. The price? Just under $240. They’ll be available in black, OD green and desert tan. EDIT: They’re now available and ready for purchase.

Check them out at Hightowerarmory.com.

New Gun Mag: GunUp Magazine

gunup-magazine

There’s a new gun magazine that hit newsstands recently from the folks at GunUp. The gun news site and online retailer is now getting into the publication business, you can actually download a free preview issue right here. If you like what you see you can purchase a year subscription online at Amazon for just $36. I actually think it’s a pretty darn good mag so far.

To help promote their new mag GunUp is also giving away an AR-15 if you enter in their contest.

Homemade Glock in 9×18 Makarov

AK-47s are renowned for their reliability, and for the fact they’re cheap and easy to build. Everyone from DIY home gunsmiths here in the US to hand made guns from the Khyber Pass. Well it looks like the other main firearm known for it’s reliability is starting to be copied as well. This Glock was made in Russia with just a chisel, file and a drill out of steel and epoxy. It’s chambered in 9×18 Makarov too. It’s actually not that bad, in this market I’m sure it would probably sell in no time.

9mm Citadel M1 Carbine

3

citadel-m1

Thefirearmblog posted that Citadel is planning on releasing a 9mm version of their M-1 Carbine replicas. No word on pricing was released however with a ship date being somewhere in late 2013. If these manage to be problem free and if magazines are affordable I can see them selling a ton of them.
