I’m a fan of fiber optic sights, in fact I actually rock these Hi Viz fiber optic sights on my Glock 17. Another fiber optic sight I like are actually these for the Mosin Nagant. Phoenix Technology released an unusual new fiber optic for the AK-47 called the “On Point Sight”. It mounts to the front sight block of the AK, when you look down the sight you see two green dots on both sides of the front sight. Phoenix Technology says it’s easy to install with no modification needed to your AK. The new “On Point Sight” is suppose to help with quicker target acquisition. Architek Fixed Clamp-On AR-15 Front Sight

Check out this cool new clamp-on AR-15 front sight from Battle Arms Development called the Architek that looks very similar to an AK-47 front sight. Its lightweight and compact made for .750 diameter AR-15 barrels. It’s made out of machined 7075-T6 aluminum and the sight post is skeletonized to help reduce weight to just 1.3 ounces. Why would anyone need a clamp on front sight? The main benefit I see is for those who want to extent their sight radius as far as possible or for those who have low profile gas blocks.

The Battle Arms AR-15 Fixed Clamp-On Front Sight was designed exclusively for Brownells to allow for the longest sight radius possible. No more settling for back up sights attached at the far end of the handguard or front sight bases permanently attached at the gas port. With the Fixed Front Sight, the user can place the assembly as close the muzzle as possible, with it solely in contact with the barrel. When shooting prone, even free float handguards will flex. If employing iron sights, any front sight attached to the handguard will be affected.

Check out this picture posted on TheFirearmBlog of a bunch of machine guns at a museum in California that were made inoperable. Sad. Almost as sad as this gun graveyard in Asia full of rusted WWII and Vietnam War era guns.

This photo was taken by me at the former Military Vehicle Technology Foundation (aka the Littlefield Collection) museum in Portola Valley, CA. All of the formerly full-automatic weapons you see before you were rendered inoperable in preparation for leaving the state. This included torching both the receiver and barrel. Most of what you see in the photo are M1919s and MG42s. A number of other weapons were chopped up as well.

The Bungee Holster

I like minimalist style gear, as long as its well thought out and it works. I don’t think the bungee holster is either. The makers claim it’s the lowest profild and lightest weight profile on the market, because it’s just a piece of bungee cord. We tested another minimalist holster, the Versa Carry Holster, which suffers from the same downfall. That you can’t use either holster with a round in the chamber.
