.223 Reformed To 300 AAC Blackout

1

.223-to-300blk

.300 AAC Blackout, or 300BLK, is the hot new 30 caliber round for the AR-15. It allows users of .223/5.56 AR-15s to utilize their existing mags, AR lowers and bolts when switching over to 300BLK. All you need is a new barrel, or to make things even easier, an entire new 300BLK upper. Another great benefit of the new 300BLK round is that you can use existing .223 brass you may already have. A member of r/guns posted this really cool picture of the process of reforming .223 brass to 300 AAC Blackout. You can also read up on the 300BLK round here.

The S&W M&P 15-22 MOE is the perfect solution for the AR enthusiast who wants to shoot on a budget. Furthermore, this platform is an excellent choice for the shooters who want to get the rest of the family involved in shooting. The .22 Long Rifle caliber is the ideal round for introducing marksmanship to children and novice shooters because of the ease of use and low recoil. And they get to shoot a rifle that looks and feels just like an AR-15.

Archery is a skill mankind has honed for thousands of years. Civilizations from all over the world have used archery to put food on the table and to wage wars. These days archery is a sport thought to only be used by recreational hunters and kids at summer camp. While it’s no longer used to strike down advancing columns of foot soldiers or poaching his/her Majesty’s deer, the fact is archery is still alive and well today. It’s a sport still practiced by many around the world, it’s even in the Olympics.

Primary Weapons Systems Buffer Tube Demo

1

pws-enhanced-buffer-tube

Primary Weapons Systems makes some pretty good stuff, check out our review of the PWS MK1 Piston AR-15 for more on that. One of their more interesting products for the AR-15 is their enhanced buffer tube. It features a one piece design that eliminates the need for a castle nut so that the buffer tube will never become loose. And if you’re running a piston AR-15 upper the PWS buffer tube will help reduce carrier tilt which tends to plague many of the piston AR-15 kits out there.

The PWS buffer tube also features a dead blow buffer already installed in the rear of the buffer tube to help reduce carrier speed by around 10% which in turns reduces felt recoil. At $100 it’s not a budget mod for your AR-15, but it’s one that can make some big improvements. Check it out in action below.

Here’s another blinged out firearm, and much like this Ben Franklin’d AK-47 it’s pretty atrocious. But it’s David Nash’s cash to blow on his office decorations.

.308-m1-garand

The Civilian Marksmanship Program, or the CMP, is THE place to buy an M1 Garand. They’ve recently announced that they will be offering their Special grade M1 Garands chambered in .308 Winchester. These new CMP Special .308 Garands are completely refurbished and are based off an original Springfield Armory receiver, brand new Criterion barrel and new American Walnut stock and handgaurds as well as a new web sling. Pretty much a brand new rifle. A .308 spacer block will be utilized to prevent the loading of a .30-06 round into the chamber.

If you’ve always wanted an M1 Garand but didn’t want to have to hunt around for surplus .30-06 to shoot, this is a great opportunity to own a piece of history. The CMP Special .308 M1 Garand goes for $995 plus $24.95 for shipping and comes in a CMP hard case. Check them out TheCMP.org.

Sure it’s just a slingshot you say, but slingshots and slings have been used in battle for thousands of years. Remember that guy David who took down Goliath?

The new Montie Gear Y-Fork Slingshot is a modern take on the classic weapon. It features an aluminum frame, Thera-Band Gold flat band with a 16-pound pull with a 28-inch draw, a leather pouch and paracord-wrapped handle. It’s capable of slinging a 1/2 ball bearing or .44 cal lead ball, or even rocks. At $100 this slingshot isn’t cheap, but it’s not the same slingshot you used as a kid. It’s a great option for your bug out bag because we all know ammo won’t last forever.

This video is an oldie but a goodie. Remember everyone, your forward assist is to push your bolt carrier forward, not muscling a round into the chamber.
