The Philippine Government Arsenal is currently in talks with SME Ordnance (SMEO) of Malaysia on a joint venture project over M4 Carbines built under license by SMEO from Colt. The M4s will be made in Malaysia while the magazines for the joint venture will be made in the Philippines. In an effort to modernize their military the Philippines purchased 63,000 R4 carbines from Remington earlier this year. Last year the Philippine National Police purchased 14,000 Glock 17s to replace their aging 1911s and revolvers.

If there’s one aging weapons platform that I think can still live on it’s definitely the Philippine Marine’s suppressed M3 Grease guns we posted last year. They’re actually pretty bad ass.
