B-17 Flying Fortress “Liberty Belle” Crashes Outside Chicago

The WWII B-17 Flying Fortress bomber “Liberty Belle” crashed and burned in a cornfield just outside chicago, Illinois recently. The FAA said the B-17 was taking off from Aurora Municipal Airport and crashed about 20 minutes after take off in Oswego, the pilot reported of a fire after taking off. Thankfully all seven people on board escaped without injury. It’s very unfortunate to see such a beautiful piece of aviation history go up in flames.
