OneTigris Rover 35L Backpack Review

Tactical backpacks and bags are very popular these days, not only for operators and members of the military, but for regular people as well. They’re just more practical and durable than your standard backpack. They usually have more well thought out storage compartments and are made of higher quality fabrics.

Now that’s not the case with every tactical bag out there, there is junk out on the market, but the OneTigris Rover 35L Backpack isn’t one of them. Read on to see all the features and our review of the Rover backpack.

The name 35L refers to the size of the bag, which is 35 Liters. The OneTigris Rover 35L Backpack is available in multiple colors. Black, coyote brown, multicam, black multicam and shadow grey. We opted for one in multicam, although the black multicam bag looks pretty boss as well.

The bag is made out of durable and water resistant 500D Codura nylon and uses YKK zippers. It’s light weight and has a bunch of storage compartments. Also included is a lifetime warranty from OneTigris, although before I received this bag to review I never even heard of OneTigris and according to the OneTigris website their HQ is in China. Most of the gear these days is made in China, especially at this price point.

That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and OneTigris doesn’t seem to be a fly by night operation at all. Just a quick search shows that they have a strong presence on social media and even on Amazon. So I wouldn’t be too worried about filing a warranty claim if something goes wrong. Now onto the Rover 35L Backpack!

The OneTigris logo is stitched into the front of the bag, it looks pretty cool. You can also see the two loops on the bag that OneTigris calls “Alpenstock loops”. I had to look that up, I thought those loops were just for hanging gear onto such as water bottles etc. But I guess those loops were originally designed to be used for an alpenstock, which are those staffs or walking sticks used by hikers and mountain climbers. Good to know.

Included is a spot to place your favorite morale patch, which seems to be the norm with most tactical bags on the market these days.

Of course we’re rocking our ArmoryBlog morale patch (which will be available soon to purchase!)

The OneTigris Rover 35L Backpack has MOLLE webbing on the front of the bag which I put to good use with my Gerber Strongarm Survival Knife. Your can use the MOLLE webbing to attach any other accessories and gear.

The backpack straps are adjustable and include a sternum strap. The straps are wide and padded so they don’t dig into your chest and shoulders. The overall shape of the straps are very comfortable. The straps also have standard D rings.

On the back of the backpack are three different padded areas. The bottom pad is a bit thicker than the top two pads. The lower pad rest on your waist (depending on how you adjust the straps). This seems to help distribute the weight of the bag so all the weight isn’t resting on your shoulders. This is noticeable on long hikes. I find I can use this bag for longer periods of time.

The top two padded areas help with ventilation. When a backpack is laying completely flat on your back it usually makes for a very sweaty and uncomfortable back. This is especially true when hiking, cycling or on hot days. These pads help prevent that.

Another nice touch with the OneTigris 35L bag is this loop that keeps the excess strap end from flopping around. I hate it when you’ve adjusted the shoulder straps on a bag and excess strap material just flops around.

One option is to just cut the excess but this strap holder keeps the excess strap end in place giving the bag a cleaner look.

The OneTigris Rover has openings on the top of the bag on both sides, it can be used for earbud cords or for a hydration bag tube.

On top of the bag has a small storage compartment, good enough for maybe some glasses, a small wallet or any other small items you don’t want to carry in your pocket.

The OneTigris 35L backpack has three compartments, the front compartment has zippers on both sides giving the user access to it from either side. Also on both sides of the bag are elastic pouches that can be used for water bottles.

The middle compartment has a bunch of smaller pouches that are great for everyday use. There’s a large mesh pocket, pen pockets, a phone pouch and a key clip.

The storage compartment goes pretty deep and is roomy. There’s plenty of space for a DSLR, a tablet or booze.

Another look at the pockets in the middle compartment of the OneTigris 35L backpack.

Having a plethora of pockets is a nice touch, however I find the key clip lacking. I wish it was little beefier. I’m sure the included key clip is fine and I haven’t had any issues with it while I’ve used this bag, but I think a thicker more durable strap with better stitching and a better quality clip would be a nice touch. It would also give me much more piece of mind, especially on long hikes where losing my keys would ruin my day.

The main compartment in the bag is pretty large, it has a large mesh sleeve as well as a padded laptop sleeve. The laptop sleeve easily fit my 15.7″ laptop with room to spare. There’s also plenty of room for books and other gear.

Positives

  • Comfortable
  • Light and durable
  • Plenty of storage space
  • Well thought out pockets and compartments

Downsides

  • A bit pricey at $85.99 MSRP
  • The key strap could be stronger

Final Thoughts

onetigris 35l backpack

I’ve used the OneTigris 35L Rover Backpack daily for over a month now, from going to work to long hikes and mountain bike rides. It’s held up well and met all my expectations. As the name suggest, the 35L Rover is 35 Liters in size. That’s plenty of space for a day hike or day-to-day use. More than enough space for a school bag or a DSLR/camera bag. It may not be enough space for longer multi-day hikes however.

I would say the only real issue I can see is the bag is a bit pricey at an MSRP of $85.99 at OneTigris.com, but it’s not overly expensive. Especially for all the storage space and compartments included with this bag. I’d also like a stronger key strap. But overall this is a pretty good tactical backpack.

The OneTigris 35L Backpack is available over at OneTigris.com and Amazon.com
