LAPD Bans Blackhawk Serpa Holsters

Blackhawk Serpa Holsters get a bad rap. There’s been a number of incidences where people have accidently shot themselves using the Serpa. While this is mostly due to poor trigger finger discipline, the design of the Serpa makes it really easy for those with poor trigger finger discipline to mess up and discharge their pistol while drawing. That’s because with the Serpa you have to use your trigger finger to release the tension to be able to draw. I guess the LAPD didn’t want to risk it and banned the use of the Serpa and similar type holsters.

This isn’t the first agency to ban the Serpa, a while back Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) also banned the Blackhawk Serpa
