What Was Your First AR-15 Build Project?

One of the best things about the AR-15 rifle is how easy it is to build and customize it to the exact specs you want. Feel like making a AR for hunting or long distance shooting? No problem, just pick up an upper with a longer/heavier barrel and slap on the optics of your choice. Feel like an Mforgery? There’s countless options available from lots of manufacturers. I always scope out the custom AR-15 build threads on all the various gun forums I’m on, I like to see the different ways AR shooters make their AR-15 rifles their own. I recently stumbled upon Gunschicken’s AR build and it really reminded me of my first AR-15 project.

Got a AR-15 build story of your own you’d like to share? Post a link or tell us about it in the comments section below. BTW, the AR pictured above is my budget AR build, more details on it in a future post.

  1. I just finished my first AR build recently. Used a american tactical lower and a DSA stripped upper with a Daniel Defense bolt carrier group. I wrote a lot about it on this blog: triggerswap.com

  2. Like John and. My first AR-15 build was a Mforgery. I like the looks! I went with a no name (Aero precision stripped upper and lower receivers) and haven’t looked back since. I have a pretty accurate rifle that I custom made (Assembled) and I love it!

  3. My first AR-15 build was an Mforgery too. I used a Spikes Tactical lower and parts kit and a Bravo Company Upper and Troy sights. Worked well for me so far.
