SilencerCo just released their new MAAD Muzzle Brake, it’s 50-state legal and accepts all of SilencerCo’s Saker accessories. It’s available in 5.56/.223 (1/2×28) as well as 7.62 (5/8×24). The kit includes four parts: a MAAD Brake, MAAD Mount, Flat Front Cap, and a SilencerCo muzzle device (either their Trifecta Flash Hider or Trifecta Muzzle Brake). The flash hider is not legal in California however. From what I could gather the MAAD Brake is essentially a brake shield which quickly attaches and detaches over a Trifecta flash hider or brake, similar to the Ferfrans CQB Modular Muzzle Brake but with a much larger fireball. The new SilencerCo MAAD retails for $295 over at SilencerCo.com. Check it out in action below.
California is bad, but NY is much worse. Flash hiders are only illegal in CA on semi-auto pistols and semi-auto centerfire rifles with detachable magazines. For rifles, you can have a flash-hider on a rimfire, a bolt action, or a semi-auto with fixed magazine (see “bullet button”).
