The Marlin 60 and 795 are great rifles, one of the first rifles I ever shot was an old Marlin 60. If there is one pitfall to the Marlin 60 and 795, it’s properly assembling the bolt without crimping the recoil spring. I bent the recoil spring on my Marlin 795 pretty bad when I first got it, and replacements aren’t cheap either. Rimfirecentral.com member p-t max and ArrowDodger put together a great write-up on how to properly remove and install the bolt, as well as preventing the infamous recoil spring crimp, on the Marlin 60 and 795. Check it out at Rimfirecentral.com.
I bent mine too! Took me a few tries after getting a replacement to get the technique down.
