FN Herstal has released their Fire Control Unit (FCU) 40mm grenade launcher sighting system. The FN FCU mounts onto a picatinny rail above the grenade launcher, it also features a laser range finder which calculates the distance to the target as well as a clinometer which measures the angle and elevation to the target. An onboard ballistic computer calculates the angle required which then controls a red dot scope to point at the optimal aiming point.
It also has a cant indicator that will tell the user if the launcher is canted and will need to be realigned. The operator can still use the firearms iron sights or optics.
