Ever wonder what ever happens to stolen or confiscated guns when the cops get their hands on them? They usually end up in the police departments property and evidence unit and stored away in the departments gun room. If they’re never claimed they go on to be melted down into rebar used for sidewalks and roads.
Below are pictures of the Minneapolis Police Department’s gun vault, where guns used in crimes or recovered from theives are documented and stored until they’re either claimed by the owners, used as evidence in court cases or sent to the big shooting range in the sky. Unfortunately most of them do get melted down.
