Their commitment is to quality, value and customer service. This is my kind of company! Materials and workmanship are high priorities for Bulldog Cases and Vaults and sets them apart from other firearm case manufacturers. Bulldog makes a“value” line of rifle cases known as the “Pitbull” series and a “supreme” line known as the “Extreme” series.

The Bulldog Extreme Tactical Rifle Case
The Bulldog Extreme Tactical Rifle case is designed to provide extreme protection in the most adverse conditions such as rain, snow and dust as well as from physical challenges like bumps, drops, slides, etc. The Extreme Tactical case is ideal for any carbine like the AK-47, AR-15, Hi Point 4095 or the SCAR. It’s available in 35”, 40”, 45” and 48” lengths. I chose the 35” for my Hi Point 4095TS carbine. The 4095TS carbine measures 32” but you need to allow for the padding in the case. Don’t buy a case that is exactly the length of your gun, add at least 2”. The retail price for the Extreme Tactical case is $45 for the 35” OD.

Is It Tough?
The Bulldog Extreme Tactical case is made from 1000D super heavy duty nylon fabric. 1000D nylon is very strong and abrasive resistant. It is woven tightly and looks and feels great. You can drag 1000D nylon over rocks, sand and logs without it tearing or abrading. It really is super tough. The main zipper on this tactical case is a #10 full length zipper. They don’t get any heavier than that. It’s double stitched to the case and will last forever. This is the heaviest zipper I have ever seen on any gun case and it zips and unzips smoothly. The zipper pull is large and easy to grasp. 2 1/4” of padding will prevent damage to your rifle should you drop, throw or slide it down rocky terrain.

2 1/4” is enough protection without being too bulky. More padding makes a tactical case unwieldy and heavy. The inside fabric lining is brushed Tricot and very soft. It doesn’t scratch and has a high quality look and feel. This is where some case manufacturers will use cheap materials. Bulldog definitely went first class on the inside too. I know… tactical guns are made to withstand the elements and are bound to get scratched BUT I try to minimize damage to my guns finish.

Extreme Tactical Case Features
The exterior of the Bulldog case features 4 magazine compartments secured via velcro flaps, a small accessory zippered compartment, two study 1000D nylon handles and a detachable shoulder sling. The magazine pouches will accommodate AR-15, AK-47 and other tactical type rifle magazines. The closure flap is very secure when velcroed shut. The small zippered accessory compartment is a great place to store small tools or a cleaning kit. The zipper is heavy duty and zips smoothly. The case handles are most often overlooked. These are critical on a good tactical case. If they tear, the case becomes useless. These handles are 1000D nylon fabric and tough as hell. I doubt the nylon or the double stitching will give way under any conditions. The handles are quite comfortable to the hand even when carrying for long periods. I carried this one for over an hour while on a hike. This is where the shoulder sling comes in handy. It’s made the same way as the case, super tough. Throw the case over your shoulder and you’re good to go for an all day hike.

Conclusion
The Bulldog Extreme Tactical case is an excellent product that demonstrates quality at an affordable price. How often does that happen? It is very well made and satisfies what I need from a tactical case which is:

● Durability

● Protection from the elements and physical damage

● Multiple magazine storage

● Accessory compartment for small tools

● Easy to access firearm quickly

● Easy on the eyes…”looks nice”

● Affordable

● Great customer service – though I have not needed it yet.

● Floats

● Lightweight

The Bulldog case is a great basic tactical case. It has some limitations like storage. If you need to pack more items with your gun, then you might look for a case with more pockets/compartments. It is not a SHTF case in my opinion. There are other cases that can store survival items in addition to magazines and tools. I have one but it is bulky and complicated. It’s a Condor Rifle case. It has three pockets that are larger with compression straps. It has a second long compartment that can hold 2 handguns or other gear. It really depends on what purpose you intend to use the case for. I like simple and the Bulldog is that.

Where to Buy
The Bulldog case is available with free shipping on Amazon.com.

Author Bio
Kevin Mazza is a NRA member, experienced hunter, shooter and reloader and has written hundreds of firearm related articles and reviews. That doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be respected at all times, however. A gun is first and foremost a weapon, and it is designed to kill. Thousands of people are injured every year in the United States through accidents involving firearms. Many of these accidents can be easily avoided as long as people follow these basic firearm safety tips.

Always point the muzzle away from things you don’t intend to shoot
This is the most basic firearm safety tip, but it is also the most important. If every gun owner followed this rule, there would be almost no firearm accidents. If you are handling a gun, always keep it pointed someplace where it won’t hurt anybody if it were to go off, preferably at the ground. You should also remember that bullets can ricochet or pass through walls and ceilings, so a gun can hurt someone even when you think it’s pointed someplace safe. Never raise a gun into a shooting position until you are ready to fire at your target.

Never assume that a gun is completely safe
A gun without ammunition will obviously not be able to hurt anybody, but it is often difficult to tell when a firearm is completely empty. Many accidental shootings occur when a gun with “no ammo” goes off unexpectedly. When it comes to something as deadly as a gun, it’s always best to err on the side of caution and assume that it is loaded. You should also never rely completely on a gun’s safety. The safety is a mechanical component, and all machines are capable of failing at inopportune times.

Unload firearms that aren’t in use
While it makes perfect sense to treat a gun as if it was always loaded, you should also always unload a firearm that isn’t in use. Not only will this prevent children from accidentally using the firearm and hurting themselves, it will keep unauthorized adults from using it as a weapon should they get their hands on it.

Always be aware of what is beyond your target
Once a gun has been fired, you have absolutely no control over where the bullet will go and what it will hit. Before you take a shot, make sure you know where you are shooting. Even when you think you are aiming perfectly at your target, there’s still a chance that you could miss and hit something else. Always be aware of your target, and keep your gun’s safety on until you are ready to shoot.

Do not alter your firearms
Although it may be tempting to do so, you should never attempt to alter or modify your guns. Doing so not only usually voids factory warranties, it can also be very dangerous. Modern guns are far more complex than many people realize, and they should only be serviced and repaired by those with the proper training.

When it comes down to it, firearm safety is all about common sense and treating guns with the respect that a deadly weapon deserves. If you want to learn more about firearm safety and how to shoot, consider taking a class on the subject. Shooting sports are very safe, but only if you use your head and follow the rules of firearm safety.

This post is a guest post contribution.
The post Basic Firearm Safety Guide first appeared on Armory Blog.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">6251</post-id>

The FN blackbox for guns

ArmoryBlogger

Firearms

FN Herstal recently debuted their Blackbox for guns, it’s a little gadget that can be inserted in any available space within your gun (shown in a rifle pistol grip above). It’s a fun little app that will give you quite a bit of cheap entertainment. It uses the iPhone’s camera to create a FPS (first person shooter) game out of your actual surroundings. While there is no storyline or multiplayer type levels, it’s more of a game to entertainment yourself and shoot your friends without the hassle of cleaning up blood or burying bodies.

The app has some pretty cool sound effects and gameplay. You are able to choose from an AK-47, bazooka, dart-gun pr lazer blaster where you can then shoot up what you see on your screen. You can choose a sniper rifle and take aim at images in your photo library. After you’re done punching holes in your images, you can save them to your iPhone so you can see your work of art later.

Overall
Don’t expect Call of Duty type of shooter fun, it’s still a clever app that’s a freshening change from all the various gun noise making apps out there. For $.99 it’s well worth the small price to pay for dart-gun shooting fun.

Assassin FPS
Price: $.99
www.appassassin.com

Check out some screen shots and a demo video below:

The post Assassin FPS iPhone game app first appeared on Armory Blog.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">124</post-id>

Mythbusters’ Kari Byron with a big bad gun

ArmoryBlogger

Rifles

sniper

I really like the show Mythbusters, not really because I’m into the scientific methods they use and the interesting myths they try and bust. Then you’ll really enjoy the new app Modern Combat: Sandstorm for the iPhone. The new game is available for both the iPhone and iPod touch from Gameloft, and it throws you into the heat of modern combat and battlefields. In the game you are assigned to “Mission Sandstorm” and your mission is to eliminate terrorist and enemy insurgents. The game has 10 feature missions in Middle Eastern battlefields from city streets, ship yards, hospitals and more.

The game opens with a really slick trailer than you’re put into training course to prepare you for combat before you start your mission. Once training is completed you’re dropped off via helicopter to start your first mission. There are 4 difficulty levels you can play, from easy to extreme so you can test your skills as you get better. There is also a good array of weapons to choose, from assault rifles, sniper rifles, RPG, to shotguns and machine guns.

Game play is pretty good and the sound is excellent. As with many iPhone games however, it can take some getting used to as you are using touch screen controls to play the game. After you get used to the different game play on the iPhone, you’ll really start to enjoy this app. While there are other shooter games out there, this one is one of the best, it is available now in the App Store for $6.99.

The post Modern Combat: Sandstorm iPhone app first appeared on Armory Blog.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">108</post-id>

HK MP5 Nintendo Wii controller

ArmoryBlogger

mp5

The Nintendo Wii is the most popular gaming console right now, and what makes it so fun to play is the cool motion control “Wiimotes.” Well here is one that is sure to turn heads, a replica Hecklor & Kock MP5. Displayed at a Hong Kong trade show it is a 1:1 scale copy of the popular German submachine gun. The company who made it plans to sell the new Wiimote in the U.S. but no price has been set as of yet, but we’re sure it’s gonna be pricey. The MP5 features a built-in Wiimote, nunchuck, MotionPlus sensor, speaker, rumble support and a rechargeable battery via USB.

What games will this be used with? The bill that would restrict ammunition sales in California, AB962, was signed recently by Governor Schwarzenegger. The Governor’s comments are below:

“To the Members of the California State Assembly: I am signing Assembly Bill 962.

This measure would require vendors of handgun ammunition to keep a log of information on handgun ammunition sales, store ammunition in a safe and secure manner, and require the face to-face transfer of ammunition sales.

Although I have previously vetoed legislation similar to this measure, local governments have demonstrated that requiring ammunition vendors to keep records on ammunition sales improves public safety. These records have allowed law enforcement to arrest and prosecute persons who have no business possessing firearms and ammunition: gang members, violent parolees, second and third strikers, and even people previously serving time in state prison for murder.

Utilized properly, this type of information is invaluable for keeping communities safe and preventing dangerous felons from committing crimes with firearms.

Moreover, this type of record keeping is no more intrusive for law abiding citizens than similar laws governing pawnshops or the sale of cold medicine. Unfortunately, even the most successful
local program is flawed; without a statewide law, felons can easily skirt the record keeping requirements of one city by visiting another. Assembly Bill 962 will fix this problem by
mandating that all ammunition vendors in the state keep records on ammunition sales.

As Governor, I have sought the appropriate balance between public safety and the right to keep and bear arms. I have signed important public safety measures to regulate the sale and transfer of .50 caliber rifles, instituted the California Firearms License Check program, and promoted the use of microstamping technology in handguns. I have also vetoed many pieces of legislation that sought to place unreasonable restrictions and burdens on firearms dealers and ammunition vendors.

Assembly Bill 962 reasonably regulates access to ammunition and improves public safety without placing undue burdens on consumers. For these reasons, I am pleased to sign this bill.”

The post Governor Signs AB962 Restricting Ammunition sales in California first appeared on Armory Blog.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">97</post-id>

The Czech Army no longer using the Vz. 58

ArmoryBlogger

Rifles

The Czech Army has used the venerable Vz. 58 since 1958, it has been used by other countries in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa as well, but it looks like the Vz. 58 will be retired very soon. The Czech news site, Ceskenoviny.cz, reported that the Czech military will be spending quite a bit of money to update their armed forces by 2013. A possible replacement may be the CZ S805 rifle that was developed along with the Czech army. The Vz. 58 is a great rifle, while it looks very similar to the AK-47 on the outside, on the inside it closer resembles the German stg-44, the world’s first assault rifle. Hopefully with the retirement of the Vz. 58 in Czechoslovakia it means affordable Vz. 58’s for enthusiasts here in the US and elsewhere.

The new arms will replace machine guns 58 based on the Soviet-made Kalashnikovs AK 47, Pravo writes.
“It was originally said that only special units will get offensive handguns. The whole military could be rearmed for two billion crowns,” Seda told Pravo.

It writes that the military also plans to spend 3.49 billion crowns on the purchase of light armoured vehicles.
